The NYC Financial Information Services Agency – Office of Payroll Administration (FISA-OPA) has a vacancy for a WebSphere Administrator to support ongoing production maintenance and phased rollout implementation of the HR, Benefits, and Timekeeping functions of HR/Payroll systems. This role will be a technical position responsible for the installation, maintenance, and configuration of our Middleware infrastructure (IBM WebSphere, MQ, and Cognos). Tasks will include supporting the infrastructure of critical citywide applications. This person will function as one of the technical administrators for the group, work with various teams, and must have the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks to meet project deadlines. Preferred Skills: . 5+ years' experience of Middleware Administration, specifically in IBM WebSphere Application Server Traditional (tWAS) and WebSphere Liberty on Linux or UNIX based platforms. . Experience managing WebSphere Liberty server configurations including server.xml, bootstrap.properties, and jvm.options. . Experience using Git for source control and configuration management. . Experience using Ansible for middleware administration, automation, configuration management, and application deployments. . Experience with Jenkins, CloudBees, or similar Cl/CD tools is preferred. . Experience with Configuration as Code and DevOps methodologies is preferred. . Experience in administration of other associated middleware products like IBM MQ, IBM HTTPServer, IBM WebSphere Message Broker, Oracle Weblogic, Cognos. . Perform Middleware application upgrades and patch installations. . Experience in understanding and debugging Java errors. . Good understanding of relational database concepts and experience in SQL. . Excellent analytical and problem solving skills. . Previous experience working with an enterprise wide, large scale environment. . Ability to support 24x7 and be able to work nights/weekends as required. . Ability to perform detailed Root Cause Analysis of problems. . Ability to plan, manage time according to schedules, and provide status updates when required. . Ability to work quickly to learn new applications and resolve issues. . Ability to clearly document and explain symptoms and solutions to complex problems. . Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a team environment. . Ability to be self-motivated and find answers on his/her own. . Excellent communications skills (oral and written), interpersonal, and organizational skills are required.
