Job description
Xometry (NASDAQ: XMTR) powers the industries of today and tomorrow by connecting the people with big ideas to the manufacturers who can bring them to life. Xometry’s digital marketplace gives manufacturers the critical resources they need to grow their business while also making it easy for buyers at Fortune 1000 companies to tap into global manufacturing capacity. Xometry is hiring a Vice President, Communications to own how a larger, publicly traded, AI-native manufacturing marketplace is understood by the press, investors, customers, partners and employees. As Xometry scales, its story is deepening and the competition for attention is growing, with a CEO who operates with discipline and structure. This leader brings the same rigor: a clear message architecture, a planned cadence, and sharp, fast, well-sourced writing. You will be a player/coach. You partner directly with the CEO and the executive team, personally draft and edit high-stakes content, and build and lead a lean team and agency partners to execute. What You'll Own Narrative and message discipline. Own the corporate message house and keep it consistent across press, investor materials, product launches, executive remarks and internal channels. Turn technical product and AI developments into accurate, defensible stories backed by proof points. CEO and executive communications. Serve as the CEO's primary communications counselor and voice architect. Run to a planned cadence and personally draft or refine keynotes, bylines and major announcements. Extend the same platform to the CTO and other senior leaders. Earned media in a crowded market. Own proactive media strategy across top-tier business, financial, tech and trade press. Set the bar for what is worth pitching, build direct reporter relationships, and hold the PR agency accountable for outcomes (quality coverage, share of voice, message pull-through), not activity. Public-company communications. Partner closely with Investor Relations, Finance and Legal to keep the narrative aligned across earnings, disclosures and market-sensitive announcements. Issues and crisis readiness. Own enterprise reputational risk. Maintain playbooks, escalation paths and tested scenarios, including AI, data and marketplace-specific risks, and lead hands-on response when it counts. Internal communications. With HR, direct All-Hands and leadership communications so employees hear strategy clearly and early. Team and operating model. Build the team from the ground up: define the structure, hire and develop talent, and set the editorial bar. Select and manage agency partners. Build an AI-augmented workflow and report communications impact in business terms. Cross-functional alignment. Work in lockstep with Marketing, Product, Legal, HR and IR so one coherent story reaches every audience. What Success Looks Like in 12 Months One message house in daily use across CEO remarks, CTO and product announcements, investor materials and internal communications. A rolling communications plan tied to clear business milestones that adapts as priorities shift, with CEO and executive prep running on a predictable cadence and minimal rework. Measurable gains in earned coverage quality (top-tier pull-through, share of voice against named competitors), with targets agreed in the first 90 days. Core team hired and in place with clear ownership across external, executive and internal communications, and agency scope and KPIs set around outcomes. Qualifications 15+ years in corporate communications or public relations, including leading executive communications for a CEO in a high-growth technology, marketplace or public-company environment. Hands-on writer and editor who can draft a keynote, byline or major announcement under deadline and set the editorial bar for a team. Proven ability to translate complex technical subjects (AI/ML, software, marketplace dynamics) into clear, credible stories for non-technical audiences. Established relationships with bus
