Job Posting Title: UTIG - Postdoctoral Fellow - Lowery ---- Hiring Department: Institute for Geophysics ---- Position Open To: All Applicants ---- Weekly Scheduled Hours: 40 ---- FLSA Status: Exempt from FLSA ---- Earliest Start Date: Immediately ---- Position Duration: Expected to Continue Until Sep 11, 2027 ---- Location: PICKLE RESEARCH CAMPUS ---- Job Details: Purpose UT Micropaleo Lab is seeking a postdoctoral scholar to conduct research on benthic foraminifera ecosystem change in Matagorda Bay. Responsibilities Participate in field work in Matagorda Bay Identify and pick benthic foraminifera from cores Integrate benthic foraminifera population data with other data types produced by project and write manuscripts for peer-reviewed publications Actively participate in lab group meetings, laboratory training, the UTIG postdoctoral mentoring program, and other UTIG, Jackson School, and University career development and training opportunities. Required Qualifications PhD in a relevant field must have been received within the past 3 years. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Ability to perform independent research as well as collaborate effectively Experience with microfossil analysis Experience with coring and core analysis, including XRF, MSCL, imaging, grain size, and core description Experience or interest in communicating scientific results to stakeholders and community members Previous experience working in Matagorda Bay or adjacent waters Salary Range $65,000 annually Working Conditions Typical office environment Occasional field work Required Materials Resume/CV 3 work references with their contact information; at least one reference should be from a supervisor Letter of interest Important for applicants who are NOT current university employees or contingent workers: You will be prompted to submit your resume the first time you apply, then you will be provided an option to upload a new Resume for subsequent applications.
