TEMPORARY Middle School Physical Education Teacher (0.5 FTE) Position Description: The person hired for this position will teach physical education at a 6th�8th grade middle school. Special Requirements: (License, training, specialty skills or previous experience) Valid Oregon teaching license appropriate to the assignment. Physical Education endorsement required. Health endorsement preferred. AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) training and experience preferred. Knowledge of the social/emotional and developmental needs of middle school students, and ability to work well with students and peers. Ability to design inclusive, adaptive physical education experiences that build lifelong fitness, movement skills, and confidence for students of all abilities. Use of a variety of learning and instructional models. Commitment to maintaining a safe, well-supervised gym, locker room, and outdoor activity environment. Interest in being involved with the total school community. Interest in supporting athletics, intramurals, or after-school activities is a plus. Knowledge of and experience with technology, and with alternative assessment strategies. Personal attributes: a good sense of humor, a willingness to work hard, demonstrated rapport with students and staff, a high energy level, and sound organizational skills and practices. Must be able to work collaboratively to share facilities, equipment, and responsibilities. Must demonstrate excellent attendance and punctuality. Bilingual applicants desired, but not required.
