GENERAL DUTIES The Substitute Teacher is responsible for delivering instructional activities in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. This role involves managing classroom behavior, providing instruction, and ensuring a safe and productive learning environment. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS A valid State of Oregon Teaching License or Restricted Substitute License A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution The ability to follow oral and written instructions The ability to effectively work and communicate with students, parents, and school personnel from diverse cultures and/or backgrounds Prior teaching or substitute teaching experience (preferred) Strong classroom management skills Ability to follow instructions and adapt to different teaching environments Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Flexibility and ability to handle unexpected situations The ability to work harmoniously with others Proficient oral and written communication skills in English Proficient in the use of computer and Internet based applications, including but not limited to email and systems applications The ability to learn new automated systems Maintain integrity of confidential information relating to students, staff, or district patrons ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Cultivate and model a respectful working and learning environment Annually pass the District’s required online training by the District’s assigned due-date Follow site and/or District protocol for accepting substitute positions Maintain current licenses required by the State of Oregon Utilize the District’s electronic systems and applications related to the job Follow lesson plans provided by the absent teacher to ensure continuity of instruction Maintain a positive and orderly classroom environment conducive to learning Engage students in the lesson and maintain their attention and participation Manage student behavior in accordance with school policies and procedures Address any immediate concerns or questions from students regarding the lesson Monitor students during recess, lunch, and other activities as needed Provide feedback to the regular teacher about the day's activities and any issues encountered Adhere to all school policies, procedures, and guidelines Provide for the health and safety of students in all instructional settings Model personal behaviors of honesty, fairness, courtesy and consideration Maintain a cooperative relationship with administration, staff, students, and parents Share appropriate information with parents and with other staff members Provide timely and accurate feedback/documentation to students, parents, and appropriate staff members Full Day Rate: $211.92 1/2 Day Rate: $105.96 *If working in the same position for 10 or more consecutive days, full day rate is $260.46 This organization believes that every individual makes a significant contribution to our success.
