A Brief Overview The Staff Database Engineer is responsible for managing, monitoring and maintaining assigned databases and their operating system/CPU/memory/storage resources, as well as to ensure availability and performance complies with TriNet's expectations. This position is also responsible for overseeing database operations of the TriNet hosting production and non-production environments. What you will do Provide engineering, installation, configuration, maintenance and support in a 24/7 environment Monitor designated applications and take corrective action to prevent or minimize system downtime. Build /create / refresh / move databases as required. Configure solutions for High Availability, Load balancing and fail over support. Secure all databases by developing system access, monitoring, control, and evaluation. AWS services, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) services, Terraform, Github, Gitlab. Install/Upgrade database software, patches for Oracle, MySql, PostgreSQL Databases Deep understanding of AWS services related to databases highly desirable, particularly Amazon RDS, Amazon Aurora Database DevOps Automation and adoption using Terraform, CloudFormation Strong knowledge of AWS Services like EC2, Lambda, S3, RDS, Aurora, API Gateway, SNS & DMS Strong Experience with Data Migration tools like Goldengate, DMS, FiveTran Apply engineering knowledge, Database Observability tools and processes to identify/prevent/reduce the frequency or likelihood of potential issues Work closely with software engineering teams to review application design and code frequently to ensure that standards are being adhered to Work closely with database vendors to seek support for technical issues. Provide technical solutions and escalated support for highly complex technical issues. Develop and analyze highly complex system standards, thresholds, and recommendations to maximize system performance. Maintain documentation on physical and logical layout and assets of the technical architectures to maximize availability and reliability. Implement changes into production environments to support change management and release scheduling. Other projects and responsibilities may be added at the manager’s discretion.
