Job description
[What the role is] The Trade Group in Enterprise Singapore is responsible for driving Singapore's trade and developing Singapore as a global trading hub. Our Trade 2030 strategy seeks to deepen trade by building up the volume of trade managed in Singapore and supporting global trading companies to do other activities beyond trading. We also widen trade by diversifying the type of products Singapore trades in and bringing in companies from emerging markets. One part of our work includes advancing Singapore's interests in meeting its national climate targets and establishing itself as a regional carbon services and trading hub. The team operates across governments, industries, and international partners to build a robust pipeline of high-quality Article 6 carbon projects and strengthen Singapore's carbon services and trading ecosystem. This portfolio plays a key part in driving Singapore's engagement in Article 6 carbon markets — from originating and developing projects on the ground to shaping bilateral cooperation and supporting sovereign carbon-credit procurement. [What you will be working on] Project Pipeline Development and Facilitation Cover an assigned geographical region to originate high-quality Article 6 carbon projects, engage developers and host-country governments to build a credible project pipeline. Direct a network of in-market consultants across multiple countries, providing strategic guidance to support on-the-ground implementation. Assess project risks, conduct site verification and assurance, and identify technical, policy and capacity gaps that could affect project viability and implementation and safeguard Singapore’s interests. Market Activation and Project Orchestratio n Bring together developers, financiers, offtakers and service providers to accelerate development of Article 6 carbon projects. Mobilise Singapore carbon services firms to participate in project opportunities. Address implementation bottlenecks and facilitate connections with government and private-sector initiatives to channel investment into Article 6 projects. Market Facilitation Develop bilateral cooperation and capacity-building programmes that strengthen host-country institutions and project developers, deepening foundations for sustained Article 6 project delivery. Deliver business missions, briefings, workshops and industry engagements to build partnerships, deepen market knowledge and support the internationalisation of Singapore’s carbon services and trading ecosystem. Policy & Procurement Support sovereign carbon-credit procurement through strategy development, market engagement, due diligence and assessment of project quality and delivery risks. Coordinate across government agencies and co-develop procurement RFPs with METI, MSE and NEA, advising on Implementation Agreements and corresponding adjustment requirements. [What we are looking for] Experience originating, assessing, or managing projects in international or emerging markets, including the ability to evaluate technical, policy, and financial risks across diverse operating environments. Familiarity with sovereign procurement processes, RFP development, or policy advisory work, with the ability to translate market insights into actionable recommendations for government decision-making. How We Work Together We value individuals who work well with others, communicate clearly, take ownership of their work, and are open to learning and improvement. You should be comfortable navigating change and contributing positively to a collaborative team environment.
