Job description

Job Description: At Remitly, we believe everyone deserves the freedom to access, move, and manage their money wherever life takes them. Since 2011, we've tirelessly delivered on our promise to customers sending money globally, providing secure, simple, and reliable ways to manage their money, ensuring true peace of mind. Whether it's supporting loved ones back home, growing a business across continents, or pursuing new opportunities abroad, we're not just here to move money— we're here to move our global customers forward. We're looking for builders, reimaginers, and global thinkers who want to work at the intersection of technology, trust, and transformation. If that's you and you're ready to do the most meaningful work of your career—we invite you to join over 2,800 passionate Remitlians worldwide who are united by our vision to transform lives with trusted financial services that transcend borders. About the Role: The Sr. Data Analyst, Compliance, is a high-performing individual contributor within Compliance Analytics. You will bridge the gap between Compliance and data, translating regulatory and business requirements into well-defined, concrete data products, from periodic returns to regulators to data requested in examinations. You will own the “Requirement-to-Reporting” lifecycle, ensuring requirements are robust and detailed, data engineers build the right foundations and every number can be traced and defended, balancing data governance with business flexibility. The lifecycle you will own: Requirement: agree with Compliance what the regulator is asking (the “what”). Mapping: find the data by licence, entity, jurisdiction and product, and flag gaps (the “where”). Build: write and document the queries and logic (the “how”). Validation: cross-reference data across multiple source systems before filing (the “truth”). Delivery: produce filing-ready outputs with an audit trail (the “evidence”). This is a 12-Month Fixed Term Contract role based in our London office (hybrid, 3 days per week onsite). You Will: Interpret requirements: Act as the data partner to Compliance. Turn regulatory requirements (returns, templates, RFIs, exam requests) into clear data definitions, challenge ambiguous or unworkable ones, and write down assumptions and trade-offs for sign-off. Deliver reporting: Own recurring returns and ad hoc regulator data requests end to end, on deadline, attributing activity to the right licence, legal entity and jurisdiction. Set documentation standards: Keep requirement docs, data mappings, query change logs and QA logs so anyone can trace and reproduce every figure, and set the bar for how the team does this. Reconcile and QA: Reconcile to other reports, investigate variances, and review others’ work before filing. Scout data: Find data across the lakehouse (transactions, customers, KYC, risk rating, monitoring, screening) and flag gaps. Make and document judgement calls when data is incomplete, and escalate when needed. Do light data engineering: Spot recurring manual work and automate it with simple tables and pipelines; spec larger changes for data engineering. Build dashboards: Build reports and dashboards so Compliance can track metrics and filing status. Protect data: Handle PII and restricted data within Remitly’s data classification rules. You Have: Experience: 4–8+ years in data analytics, with a track record of taking ambiguous, cross-functional projects from request to delivery with minimal oversight. Financial services, payments or another regulated industry is a plus. AI readiness: You use AI tools every day to draft and test SQL, map data and write documentation, and spot where AI can automate recurring reporting work. You protect sensitive data and check every output. Technical skills: Expert SQL on large datasets; comfortable building simple pipelines; Git; a dashboarding tool (Mode, Tableau, Hex or similar); Python a plus. Problem solving: You break a vague request, from a regulator’s template to
