Position Overview ALTEN is seeking a Senior Business Analyst to support Airbus's strategic shopfloor application migration initiative in Kinston, North Carolina. This is a highly visible role supporting the transition of manufacturing applications inherited from Spirit AeroSystems to Airbus-supported solutions. As a Senior Business Analyst, you will serve as the critical link between manufacturing operations, Digital teams, IT organizations, and business stakeholders. You will be responsible for gathering, documenting, validating, and managing business requirements while ensuring minimal disruption to production operations during the migration process. This role requires a hands-on professional who is comfortable spending significant time on the manufacturing floor working directly with operators, supervisors, quality teams, and engineers to understand real-world processes and translate business needs into actionable requirements. Key Responsibilities Lead requirements gathering workshops with Production, Engineering, Quality, Operations, and IT stakeholders. Analyze existing manufacturing applications and support migration, replacement, or redevelopment decisions. Observe shopfloor operations and identify gaps between documented procedures and actual business practices. Create and maintain Business Requirements Documents (BRDs), functional specifications, process flows, and supporting documentation. Define and document functional and non-functional requirements. Ensure requirements are thoroughly reviewed, validated, and approved by stakeholders. Support application assessments related to business value, production impact, dependencies, and operational risk. Collaborate with project teams on testing strategies, User Acceptance Testing (UAT), data migration activities, cutover planning, and rollback procedures. Facilitate discussions with stakeholders and challenge proposed solutions when business justification is unclear. Communicate project status, risks, issues, and decision points to leadership and project sponsors. Mentor and provide guidance to junior Business Analysts. Support change management initiatives and business readiness activities. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field. Minimum 7 years of hands-on Business Analyst experience supporting enterprise applications. Demonstrated experience authoring Business Requirements Documents (BRDs) and functional specifications. Experience working directly with business stakeholders throughout the requirements lifecycle. Strong knowledge of business process analysis, requirements elicitation, documentation, and validation. Experience in manufacturing, industrial, production, or shopfloor environments. Experience supporting at least one enterprise application migration, modernization, replacement, or implementation through go-live. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
