Job description

BeOne continues to grow at a rapid pace with challenging and exciting opportunities for experienced professionals. When considering candidates, we look for scientific and business professionals who are highly motivated, collaborative, and most importantly, share our passionate interest in fighting cancer. General Description: Candidates must be able to work onsite in San Carlos, California. At BeOne Institute, we extend BeOne’s execution strength with a dedicated innovation engine, bringing agility and scientific depth to transform uncertainty into actionable and high-impact therapeutic opportunities. We operate according to three core principles: Bold Exploration: we pursue novel and high-potential ideas through rapid, iterative innovation cycles. Strategic Alignment: we prioritize disease areas that align closely with BeOne’s R&D priorities and long-term vision. Pipeline Impact: we translate insights into tangible assets and advance emerging platforms into impactful programs. At BeOne Medicines, we challenge the status quo to develop first-in-class therapies. We are seeking a highly motivated, rigorous Scientist to join our early discovery group within our agile biotech ecosystem. This role requires hands-on laboratory execution and a drug-development mindset. As a Scientist, you will focus on executing core cell engineering, assay, and screening workflows to move novel biological concepts into scalable therapeutic assets. You will work dynamically across diverse project initiatives, design and execute rigorous experimental strategies to modulate the immune system, and contribute cross-functionally. We are looking for an individual who combines technical precision at the bench with a collaborative spirit and a drive to generate milestone-moving data. Essential Functions of the Job: Support early discovery projects by independently designing, executing, and analyzing experimental workflows to generate high-quality data packages. Perform routine and complex molecular biology techniques to support construct design, library assembly, and vector/mRNA preparation. Isolate, culture, and engineer primary human immune cells (such as primary T cells) and/or manage iPSC culture and differentiation workflows. Execute multi-color flow cytometry, cell sorting (FACS), magnetic isolation, and quantitative immune-cell functional assays (e.g., cell activation, cytotoxicity, cytokine profiling). Build, optimize, and run functional screening approaches (pooled or arrayed) to evaluate novel targets and therapeutic constructs. Troubleshoot technical assays, analyze biological data, and contribute experimental insights to guide project strategy and decision-making. Present clear experimental results and data packages to cross-functional project teams and discovery leadership. Contribute to laboratory operational workflows, technical protocols, and material management at the San Carlos site. Supervisory Responsibilities: None Requirements: Travel: No Ph.D., M.S., or B.S. degree in Immunology, Cell Biology, Bioengineering, Molecular Biology, or a related scientific field, and 4+ years (M.S.), or 6+ years (B.S.) of relevant industry or academic experience. Demonstrated hands-on expertise in at least two of the following key technical areas: Primary T-cell biology iPSC culture and differentiation Gene editing modalities (CRISPR, CRISPRa/i, base editing) Lentiviral or non-viral cell engineering mRNA design, formulation, or delivery Functional screening approaches Working knowledge of standard molecular biology techniques (e.g., cloning, qPCR, plasmid assembly). Hands-on experience with multi-color flow cytometry including panel design and primary immune-cell functional assays. Proven technical proficiency with cell sorting and isolation techniques. Demonstrated ability to independently design and execute experiments, rigorously analyze data, and present results clearly. Preferred: Prior experience working in drug discovery or translational biology envi
