Job description
About the Role We are looking for a Release Engineer to join our Engineering team and help build, operate, coordinate, and continuously improve the processes used to reliably deliver software into production. This role combines hands-on Release Engineering operations with program management. You will build and improve release planning and operations while coordinating releases across Engineering, QA, DevOps/SiteOps, Product, and Production Support. You will help ensure that release scope, dependencies, risks, readiness, and timelines are visible across teams, while progressively automating the underlying release process. The ideal candidate is comfortable moving between hands-on technical work and cross-functional release coordination — troubleshooting a failed pipeline one moment and facilitating a release-readiness discussion the next. Location – Hybrid, Indonesia (2 days per week in the office) What You’ll be Doing Release Program Management Coordinate the end-to-end release program across Engineering, QA, Product, DevOps/SiteOps, and Production Support. Set and communicate milestones, timelines, dependencies, readiness criteria, and decision points, while keeping visibility of release scope (Jira tickets, PRs, services, repos). Track cross-team dependencies, risks, actions, decisions, exceptions, and blockers through to closure, escalating material risks early to Engineering leadership. Facilitate release planning, readiness reviews, go/no-go discussions, and post-release reviews, and make sure release owners and teams understand their responsibilities and timelines. Coordinate communication on scope, timeline, or production plan changes, and provide concise status reporting drawn from engineering systems rather than manual updates. Release Operations Coordinate releases across Sandbox, Sanity/Staging, and Production: work with QA on testing and certification, validate release branches (correct PRs and Jira tickets), and keep release notes accurate (changes, dependencies, deployment steps, config/DB changes, known issues, rollback). Drive production readiness across Engineering, QA, DevOps/SiteOps, Product, and Support, support deployments and post-deployment verification, and handle hotfixes, emergency releases, rollbacks, and release-related production issues. Lead Change Advisory Board (CAB) and hotfix governance: manage approvals, risks, dependencies, go/no-go decisions, change calendar, deployment tracking, and post-release validation. Run RCAs after failed releases and post-release improvement discussions, driving agreed actions to completion. Act as a central coordination point without becoming a bottleneck: write tested release automation, join code/design reviews, maintain runbooks and release calendars, build dashboards and metrics (deployment success, rollbacks, change failure rate, release duration, manual interventions), and move toward exception-based release management. About You 3-5 years of relevant experience in Release Engineering, DevOps, Build Engineering, Technical Program Management, or related role. Hands-on CI/CD automation (Jenkins, Bitbucket Pipelines, or similar) and strong Git workflow knowledge: branches, PRs, merges, tags, versioning, cherry-picks, release branches. Scripting or programming in Python, Go, Bash, PowerShell, or similar, with a solid grasp of build, test, packaging, deployment, and rollback processes. Experience troubleshooting build, pipeline, deployment, configuration, and environment issues, with familiarity in AWS, Azure, or GCP. Coordinating technical initiatives across multiple engineering teams and stakeholders, managing dependencies, risks, milestones, actions, and decisions without unnecessary process overhead. Strong organizational, ownership, problem-solving, facilitation, and communication skills: able to turn complex release details into clear status, risks, and decisions for different audiences, juggle concurrent releases, and be both hands-on and responsible for c
