Job description

We’re a team of friends bound together by a mission to preserve our planet for future generations through innovative energy solutions and modern infrastructure. Intersect develops, constructs, and operates the most ambitious power and data center infrastructure in the country by co-locating industrial demand with dedicated gas and renewable power generation. Intersect was acquired by Google in March 2026 and operates as an independent subsidiary. We are developing and constructing multiple gigawatts of energy and data center projects in the U.S., enabling more data center and generation capacity to come online faster. We’re on an aggressive growth trajectory and looking for people hungry to tackle the largest energy challenges on the planet. Location & Team Gatherings Intersect has been a fully flexible workplace since its founding in 2016. We’ve been very intentional about the way we do things. We are not work-from-home, hybrid, or in-office - we are any and all of those options! Deepening social connections and offering shared experiences is a cornerstone of the way we work. We connect as a team at our Team Week experiences four times a year and at our recently established Hub locations - SF Bay Area, NYC Metro Area, NY; Denver, CO; Austin, TX; Calgary, AB; and Toronto, ON. We are currently looking for candidates located within 60 miles of any of the listed hubs to foster more in-person connections while maintaining our flexible remote culture. About this role As a Power Developer on Intersect's Development team, you'll drive the strategy, commercial structuring, and execution of utility-scale clean energy, storage, natural gas, and large-load projects across key U.S. energy markets. You will own projects throughout their full lifecycle—from early-stage siting and commercial strategy through construction handover—by framing critical tradeoffs, managing project economics, and negotiating foundational agreements with external partners. You will immediately spearhead a high-priority initiative to deploy on-site bridging power solutions across 25+ Google data center sites nationwide, alongside advancing Intersect's core power portfolio. Managing both commercial and technical integration efforts, you will develop natural gas pipeline, battery storage, and power-generation infrastructure that provides reliable alternatives to constrained grid interconnections. This role is planned to start on December 2026, with a training period of 4 weeks to reach full productivity by January 2027. Team overview This team plays a critical role in advancing Intersect's mission to accelerate the clean energy transition. The Development team acts as the central engine for growth, identifying high-value regional opportunities and transforming land, hyperscale load demand, and market signals into fully operational, utility-scale power infrastructure. Joining this team means taking end-to-end ownership of complex energy assets while collaborating with multidisciplinary industry experts in an agile, high-trust environment. What you'll do Execute On-Site Bridge Power and Portfolio Strategy Build and execute the on-site generation strategy across a nationwide fleet of 25+ data center sites, alongside supporting utility-scale solar, wind, battery storage, and natural gas projects from initial market entry to construction handover. Evaluate site-specific technical and commercial development risks across natural gas supply, BESS sizing, and behind-the-meter integration, framing actionable tradeoffs for senior leadership and investment committees. Drive Commercial Structuring and Financial Valuation Own comprehensive financial and valuation models in Excel to evaluate project economics, fuel supply and pipeline cost profiles, equipment procurement, and M&A or commercial transaction structures. Lead commercial negotiations for key agreements and terms with gas utilities, midstream pipeline operators, power generation OEMs, offtakers, and local authorities. Le
