Position Summary The research in the Adaikpoh Laboratory at the University of Illinois Chicago, Retzky College of Pharmacy (https://adaikpoh.lab.uic.edu/), explores the ecological relationships between plants and their bacteria to identify new antimicrobial natural products. Duties & Responsibilities Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Keep accurate records of the experiments suitable for writing manuscripts and grant proposals. Present the results at scientific meetings. Participate in weekly lab meetings, Journal Clubs, and seminars within the Department. Design and conduct research and analyze results together with mentor, Dr. Barbara I. Adaikpoh. Research activities may include bacterial genome analysis, transcriptomic studies, gene deletion, heterologous expression of bacterial gene clusters, metabolite analyses, and antibacterial and antifungal analysis. Mentorship activities such as working with undergraduate and graduate students. Collaborative activities such as working with labs within UIC and in other institutions.
