Job Description KUOW has an outstanding opportunity for On Call Announcer to join their team. About this Opportunity Reporting to the Director of Audience, the On-Call Announcer is responsible for an assigned on-air shift. The position includes live announcing during assigned shift as well as recording breaks for overnight automation. This is a temporary, hourly on-call position with work on weekdays and weekends. Candidates must be able to work a varied schedule when required, including some early mornings, evenings and weekends. Key Responsibilities Announcing (85%) Serve as primary announcer and board operator for assigned shift. Monitor system and KUOW communications and news wire to provide programming updates Produce, plan, write, edit and voice both live and automated break content during shift Prerecord announcing breaks for automated programming Audio Distribution (10%) Assist with Public Radio Program Distribution system using broadcast software such as Content Depot, PRX Exchange, FTP, in conjunction with Zetta and NewsBoss. Other Duties as Assigned (5%) Attends and participates in department or organization meetings and trainings Provide production support for on-air fundraising drives, as assigned. Support internal station initiatives. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and one year of professional experience including audio production and announcing. Preferred Qualifications Ability to work in live broadcasting environment, including taking direction from in-studio producer or network communications. Ability to work alone in broadcast studio outside of regular business hours. Working Conditions Duties will require weekend work and working outside of regular business hours on weekdays. Cubicle/Open workspace environment which may result in additional or higher levels of noise and visual distractions.
