Job description

At Scripps-owned KTNV, you’ll tell the stories that help Las Vegas viewers understand what’s happening in their community and why it matters. As a Multimedia Journalist, you’ll take stories from idea to air, researching, writing, shooting and editing compelling content for television and digital platforms. You’ll be out in the community, talking with the people at the center of the story and bringing clarity and context to fast-moving news. From breaking news and live reports to memorable enterprise stories, you’ll have the opportunity to showcase strong journalism, visual storytelling and your own creative voice. If you’re a self-starter who thrives on deadlines and wants to make an impact through local journalism, this is an opportunity to do meaningful work in one of the country’s most dynamic news markets. WHAT YOU'LL DO: Develop compelling story ideas by evaluating assignments, news leads and tips. Gather and verify information through interviews, observation and research. Write accurate, engaging stories that meet broadcast and AP style standards. Shoot high-quality video and still photography that strengthens your storytelling. Edit video and produce content for television, digital and other multimedia platforms. Deliver taped interviews, narration and live reports from the scene of breaking and developing news. Collaborate with photographers on assigned stories to create cohesive, visually strong coverage. Partner with producers to help prepare newscasts and meet daily editorial needs. Work with digital team members to develop multimedia stories and extend coverage across platforms. Respond quickly and effectively as stories evolve in a fast-paced, deadline-driven newsroom. WHAT YOU'LL NEED: Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline or equivalent years of experience preferred. Generally, 3+ years of related experience preferred. Valid driver’s license, good driving record and ability to provide proof of insurance that meets company-required limits are required. Driving is an essential part of this role. WHAT YOU'LL BRING: Strong broadcast and AP style writing skills with a focus on accuracy, clarity and engaging storytelling. Knowledge of broadcast-quality camera equipment and experience capturing video in the field. Videography and nonlinear editing experience preferred, including Final Cut Pro or similar editing systems. Computer literacy, including familiarity with newsroom computer systems. Confidence posting and adapting content for websites and multimedia platforms. A collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively with photographers, producers and digital teams. Self-motivation, sound news judgment and the ability to perform in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Flexibility to move between reporting, shooting, editing and live storytelling as the news demands. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. OUR TEAM: At KTNV, you’ll be part of a collaborative newsroom focused on serving the Las Vegas community with relevant, compelling journalism. Our team brings different backgrounds, perspectives, interests and storytelling strengths to the newsroom, all with a shared goal: connecting audiences with the stories that affect their lives. You’ll work alongside journalists who value teamwork, curiosity, creativity and the energy that comes with chasing a great local story. WHERE YOU'LL LIVE, WORK, AND PLAY: Las Vegas gives journalists a remarkable range of stories to tell and experiences to enjoy outside the newsroom. Beyond the world-famous Strip, the Las Vegas Valley offers distinctive neighborhoods, a vibrant food and entertainment scene and a community with plenty of personality. When you're off the clock, Southern Nevada's landscape offers a dramatic change of pace, with desert scenery and abundant opportunities to get outdoors. Whether you're drawn to live entertainment and restaurants or prefer exploring the desert and surrounding natural areas, Las Vegas offers plenty to discover. #LI-SM2 If you are a c
