This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s Blue Moon landers and related products. To this end, our first MK1 Lunar Lander christened “Endurance” will be the largest and most complex vehicle ever to land on the moon. Our second MK1 will continue humanity’s exploration of the Lunar south pole by delivering NASA’s VIPER rover. As part of a hardworking team of diverse analysts, you will conduct thermal and fluids analysis to define the performance and operations within the MK1 Fluids subsystem and resolve technical challenges. The selected candidate will work within the MK1 Fluids team supporting analysis efforts through the complete development lifecycle from design through build, test, and integration. Typical tasks include capturing system inputs, validating models based on vehicle and component test data, constructing and vetting analysis models, performing system level trade studies, documenting results, and presenting results to stakeholders. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Collect analysis inputs from stakeholders and responsible engineers Develop new or modify existing CFD thermo-fluid analysis models of cryogenic propellant to represent vehicle configuration and behavior Generate and present design review and trade study content to subsystem, vehicle and business unit partners and customers Maintain models demonstrating impact of engine interface conditions on vehicle subsystems Post process analysis results to draw engineering conclusions from output data Author and publish analysis reports in Windchill to support engineering decision making Minimum Qualifications Minimum of a B.S. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering 4-5 years of relevant thermal/fluids analysis experience Experience utilizing CFD analysis tools such as ANSYS Fluent or FLOW3D Proven track record generating and presenting analysis results to support technical trades Deep understanding of fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and thermodynamics fundamentals Experience with cryogenic, two-phase, and/or gaseous fluid systems Preferred Qualifications M.S. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering 8 years of relevant aerospace experience Prior spacecraft fluid systems experience Process automation scripting skills (VBA, MATLAB, Python, FORTRAN) Experience with liquid Hydrogen and/or liquid Oxygen systems Experience utilizing Jira and Windchill Prior experience with fluids and propulsion components including solenoid valves, directional valves, manifolds, regulators, pumps, engines, thrusters, feedlines, pressure vessels, and instrumentation Base Pay Range for: CA applicants is $121,023.00 - $169,432.20
CO applicants is $110,938.00 - $155,312.85
