Elementary Art Teacher � Full-Time Leave Replacement The George A. Jackson School is seeking a creative, enthusiastic, and student-centered Elementary Art Teacher for a full-time leave replacement from approximately Mid-November through Mid-January with the opportunity for a permanent substitute teaching position through June. The Elementary Art Teacher will design and implement meaningful learning experiences for grades K-5 that introduce students to a variety of artistic media, techniques, processes, and art forms. The candidate will foster an inclusive and supportive classroom environment and collaborate with colleagues to support school goals. Key Responsibilities: Plan and deliver engaging visual arts lessons aligned with the New York State Learning Standards for the Arts. Provide instruction in foundational art concepts, techniques, materials, and processes appropriate to elementary learners. Foster creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving, and artistic decision-making. Establish a positive, organized, and inclusive classroom environment that supports student engagement and independence. Assess student learning and provide meaningful feedback to support artistic growth and skill development. Integrate art history, cultural perspectives, and connections to students' lives and experiences. Qualifications: Valid New York State certification in Visual Arts. Strong knowledge of elementary art education, curriculum development, and instructional practices. Ability to create developmentally appropriate lessons that engage students with a range of artistic interests, abilities, and learning needs. Excellent communication, classroom management, and collaboration skills. A commitment to fostering creativity, student voice, and a lifelong appreciation for the visual arts.
