Job description

Webull is a leading digital brokerage platform built on next generation global infrastructure. At Webull, we believe that everyone should have an equal opportunity to control their own financial future. Our vision has always been to empower individual investors with the tools and resources they need to succeed financially. This commitment remains at the heart of everything we do. From low-fee trading and robust market data to advanced analytical tools, we are committed to providing a seamless, top-tier trading experience. About The Role & Team Webull is a cloud-native fintech leader, with our global trading platform powered by AWS. As we continue to expand our brokerage platform and technology infrastructure, we are seeking a Database Administrator who brings deep database expertise and a strong understanding of cloud-native technologies. In this role, you will work closely with development teams to design, implement, and optimize highly scalable and reliable database solutions using AWS managed services. You will play a key role in integrating database performance optimization and architectural best practices early in the software development lifecycle, ensuring our systems can support the demands of a high-volume, real-time trading environment. We are looking for someone who brings strong technical expertise in both relational and NoSQL databases, takes a proactive approach to problem-solving, and is excited to contribute to the continued growth, performance, and reliability of Webull's global trading platform. In This Role, You Will Collaborate with developers to design and deploy data-intensive OLTP applications leveraging AWS RDS (MySQL/Aurora) and Amazon DocumentDB. Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for query optimization, advanced indexing, and schema design to ensure sub-millisecond latencies for our global trading services. Lead the evaluation and implementation of purpose-built databases (e.g., Amazon Neptune for graph data, Elasticsearch/OpenSearch for search) based on business needs. Partner with performance engineers to conduct rigorous stress tests and "Game Day" scenarios to ensure 99.99% availability during peak trading hours. Work within a DevOps culture to standardize database deployments, security protocols, and access patterns (caching, pagination) using automation tools. Design and maintain real-time data pipelines using Apache Flink or AWS-native streaming services for live data processing and CDC (Change Data Capture). Proactively monitor and resolve database-level issues in non-production environments to ensure a seamless transition to the production cloud. The Skills You Bring Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field. Proven experience managing database workloads in an AWS environment. Deep familiarity with Amazon RDS, Aurora, and DocumentDB is essential. 4-6 years of professional experience with MySQL, including deep knowledge of storage engines, locking, and transaction isolation levels. 3+ years of experience with MongoDB or DocumentDB, with a solid understanding of sharding, indexing, and consistency models. Strong mastery of data modeling, normalization, and the ability to translate complex business logic into efficient technical tasks. Advanced skills in analyzing execution plans and optimizing complex SQL/NoSQL queries. You have a self-starter mindset with the ability to rapidly master new AWS services and emerging data technologies. Experience with high-concurrency transactional data in a brokerage or electronic trading environment. What Makes You Stand Out Practical experience with Apache Flink for real-time stream processing and data integration. Experience with Amazon Neptune (Graph Database) or Time-Series databases. Proficiency in Python, Go, or Terraform/CloudFormation for database automation and IaC. AWS Certification: AWS Certified Database – Specialty or AWS Certified Solutions Architect. Why Webull?
