Job Description UW Recreation has an outstanding opportunity for an Adaptive Recreation Lead to join their team. About this Opportunity Reporting to the Intramurals Manager, the Adaptive Recreation Lead is responsible for increasing access and removing barriers to participation within the Recreation Department spaces and programs. This position will serve on the UW Seattle campus and will work around 10 hours/week throughout the 2026-2027 academic school year. Occasional telework may be permitted. Key Responsibilities Program Management & Participant Engagement (50%) Serve as the primary point of contact for individuals interested in adaptive recreation programs, services, and facilities, providing welcoming, inclusive, and responsive customer support. Facilitate information sessions, answer questions, conduct facility and program tours. Proactively identify and resolve participation barriers to enhance accessibility and participant experience. Collaborate with program managers to design, implement, promote, and facilitate 10+ adaptive recreation events, expanding inclusive participation opportunities across diverse recreation programs and facilities. Program Development & Strategic Growth (50%) Develop and implement strategic outreach, marketing, and partnership initiatives to increase awareness and participation in UW Recreation adaptive programs and facilities. Cultivate new community partnerships and identify external funding opportunities including grants, sponsorships, and donor support. Provide administrative and programmatic support for the development and growth of adaptive sports initiatives, including the implementation and operations for UW Recreation Wheelchair Basketball Team. Minimum Qualifications Applicants who do not meet these qualifications WILL NOT be forwarded to the Hiring Department. High School Diploma 1 year experience in any form of adaptive recreation (as a participant, volunteer, coach, etc.) Additional Qualifications Experience in marketing, partnerships, event management and/or athletics Experience in grant-writing, sponsorship solicitation and/or fundraising Experience in physical therapy, occupational therapy, rehab or sports medicine Demonstrated leadership experience Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment Demonstrated initiative, self-motivation, and a proactive approach to identifying opportunities, solving problems, and advancing program goals.
